Today I would like to tell you about a very special sanctuary located in Sicily in Syracuse and whoever comes to visit this city can only be struck by the conical-shaped structure of this sanctuary that dominates the city with its 75 meters from above.

This is the sanctuary of the Madonna delle lacrime erected in 1953 in memory of a miracle that took place not far from there.

*In fact, like so many particular and mystical places not far from there, I start the tearing of a plaster statue of the Virgin Mary placed on a bedside by two local people, the event was repeated both on 29 August 1953 and on 1 September between 'incredulity of the people and the natural emotion of the faithful among other things, the tears were collected and analyzed and the incredible discovery on the fact that even if they came out of a statue of the Virgin Mary they were similar to human ones.

I am not a believer but these facts and they always leave me speechless and these places are always so special in fact even the inside of this sanctuary is really special it is strange with this cone that seems to take us into the sky.

The sanctuary was also consecrated in 1994 by the Holy Father John Paul II on the occasion of his visit to Sicily but here in Syracuse.

so I recommend to those who come for a holiday in Sicily to go and see these places as well as to choose this island for the beautiful sea because the visit here is really worth it.

Inside the Sanctuary the body of Saint Lucia, the protector of Syracuse, was reproduced but the saint also who was born in Syracuse and we know that the real body is kept instead in a church in Venice in this church only a few relics referring to the patron saint of the city.

A petition has already been signed for some years for the return of the body of the Saint to her hometown but so far no one has moved to achieve this.

As usual I hope to have made you discover a new place to visit, especially in Sicily, a land that I am very attached to that is famous abroad for the beautiful sea but also for the hidden places to visit.
