Ja, meine Freunde, ich werde es wieder tun und es gibt kein Zurück mehr. Wer will das auch schon?

Sicher können sich einige noch an meine vielen Posts über meine Reise auf der Route 66 im März 2017 erinnern. Ich hatte damals, zusammen mit einem Kumpel, ein neues Reisemobil von Middlebury (nahe Chicago) bis nach San Franzisco überführt, wobei wir nach Möglichkeit der Route 66 folgten. Und ja, es ist wieder soweit, der nächste Trip ist nicht nur geplant, sondern sogar schon gebucht.

Am 12.03.2019 bringt uns eine 747-800 der Lufthansa von Frankfurt nach Chicago, am 14.03. werden wir das Wohnmobil, diesmal des Vermieters Road Bear in Empfang nehmen und dann während 17 Tagen diese wunderbare Strecke in westlicher Richtung bis San Francisco fahren.

Ich freue mich sehr auf fast zwei Tage in Chicago:

Yes, my friends, I will do it again and there is no going back - I certainly don't want that either.

Some of you may remember my many posts about my trip on Route 66 in March 2017. At that time, together with a friend, I had transported a new motorhome from Middlebury (near Chicago) to San Francisco, and we followed Route 66 if possible.

And yes, the time has come again, the next trip is not only planned, but already booked. On 12.03.2019 a 747-800 of Lufthansa brings us from Frankfurt to Chicago, on 14.03. we will receive the motorhome, this time of the landlord Road Bear and then drive for 17 days this wonderful distance in western direction to San Francisco.

I'm really looking forward to almost two days in Chicago:

Diesmal werden wir aber einen Road Bear fahren, im März 2017 war es noch El Monte. Bei diesen Wohnmobil-Transfers kommt es drauf an, welche Firma gerade die Fahrt von der Fabrik in Middlebury braucht. Auch die Destinationen sind abhängig vom Verleih-Stützpunkt, wo das Fahrzeug in der kommenden Saison gebraucht wird.

Wir wollten dieses Mal eigentlich nach Florida fahren, freuen uns aber jetzt riesig über die Neuauflage der Route 66. Diesmal wollen wir uns etwas mehr Zeit nehmen, sind demnach 17 Tage unterwegs, wohingegen es letztes Jahr nur 11 Tage waren.

Funks Grove werden wir aber sicher auch nächstes Jahr besuchen.

This time we will drive a Road Bear, in March 2017 it was El Monte. With these motorhome transfers it depends on which company needs the drive from the factory in Middlebury. Also the destinations depend on the rental base where the car is needed.

We actually wanted to go to Florida this time, but we're really excited about the new edition of Route 66, so this time we want to take a little more time, so we're on the road for 17 days, compared to only 11 days last year.

But we will certainly visit Funks Grove next year as well.

Auch vielen Road-Side-Attractions werden wir sicherlich einen zweiten Besuch abstatten. Diese Plätze, auch wenn oft etwas künstlich hergerichtet, erinnern doch an die schönen Zeiten als die Route 66 und das Gewerbe, welches an ihrem Strassenrand etabliert war, noch florierte.

We will certainly pay a second visit to many road-side attractions. These sites, although often a bit artificial, are nevertheless reminiscent of the good times when Route 66 and the trades that were established on its roadside were still flourishing.

Zu den kulturellen Höhepunkten des Tripps gehören selbstverständlich auch Indianersiedlungen, wie hier die bewohnte und lebendige Siedlung Acoma Pueblo in Neu Mexico.

Among the cultural highlights of the trip are of course Indian settlements, such as the inhabited and living village Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico.

Den Ausflug zum Petrified Forest, dem Grand Canyon und Horseshoe Bend werden wir sicher auch wieder vornehmen, zumal einer von uns dreien noch nicht dort war.

The excursion to Petrified Forest, the Grand Canyon and Horseshoe Bend we will surely make again, especially as one of us three was not there yet.

Ebenso werden wir mit Sicherheit den fantastischen Antelope Canyon wieder besuchen.

Schliesslich freuen wir uns auch auf die "wilde" Westküste und auf das Ziel unserer Reise, San Francisco. Vielleicht haben wir dieses Mal schönes Wetter in der Weltstadt der Hippies, letztes Jahr hatten wir doch tatsächlich einen der wenigen Regentage erwischt.

Finally, we look forward to the "wild" west coast and to the destination of our trip, San Francisco. Maybe this time we have nice weather in the metropolis of the hippies, last year we actually had one of the few rainy days.

Natürlich konnte ich in diesem Post nicht alle Highlights dieser Reise hervorheben. Aber ich denke, da werden dann im Frühling 2019 einige Reise Posts folgen.
