Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!

Can you believe it is Sunday again? Time really flies and I am here with yet another contribution to the Sunday golden hour photo series. My today´s image will introduce you to one of the most modern churches I have ever seen, the Church of Our Lady Fatima that can be found in Ponta Delgada, the capital city of the Azores island of Sao Miguel.

I am pretty sure that if there was not for the Christian church on the left, you would probably never guess that this building is actually a church, right? It definitely is one of the most unusual churches I have seen so far. Inaugurated in May 2009, the church was designed by Antonio Luis Gomes de Menezes. Located in the northern part of the town, in a little neighborhood called Lajedo, the church is known as Igreja Nossa Senhora de Fatima in the Portuguese language. This is what the church looks like during the day.

Unfortunately, just like with the famous Sao Roque Church that I wrote about in this post some time ago, we haven´t been inside yet but we are currently staying in an apartment located literally just across the street so hopefully, we will have an opportunity to sneak in there to see the interior of this unconventional piece of religious architecture.

On another note, the weather forecast for Ponta Delgada is promising some nice and sunny weather for the next week so hopefully, we will finally be able to make some of the long planned trips to the parts of the island where we haven´t been yet. I would love to take some cool fresh shots of interesting places and then share them with you in my Beauties of Azores series ;)
