The Christmas holidays are in full swing and in my Czech homeland, this special season comes with a variety of old traditions, superstitions and rituals. Undoubtedly, one of the most popular is the tradition of predicting future from apple.
This tradition is still observed in many Czech families and it works like this: after the Christmas dinner, you grab an apple and cut it in half horizontally with a knife to see the pattern of the seeds inside the apple. If you get a nice regular star, it means that the upcoming year will bring you good health and prosperity. A cross symbolizes illness or even death and if your apple happens to be worm-eaten from the inside, you can expect bad luck in the next year.
Here on the Azore Islands where we are currently based, it´s easier to get exotic fruits than apples so I had to improvise a little bit with this tradition but I think the persimmon worked just fine and fortunately, as you can see in the photo below, I got a nice regular star surrounded by healthy, juicy delicious flesh so my prospects for the next year seem to be bright and optimistic :) I am might try the other one for Steem hehe :D
