Hello Everyone,
Hope you all are doing great!!!
This blog is about my trip to Dumti post of Indian Tibetan border police force. It is about 20 kms from the last village of India, Chitkul. It’s under army supervision all year round but only for one day, on auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, army opens it up for local people.
We were lucky ones to visit Chitkul on the same day when it opens. Army also organises a bhandhara (free food fest) there on that day.
All the local people of Kinnaur visit this place at that day to give homage to Karu Baba temple that opens only for one day.
What a beautiful landscape it was!!! As I’m writing this blog, I’m realising the beauty of this place more and more. I can certainly say that these pictures are not at all paying justification to how beautiful it was in reality.
As this place is always closed for general public except for one day, we could feel that when we visited there. Everything looked so fresh and unpolluted.
This valley looked like a valley of dreams. We were in our car and I wanted that car ride to last all day. We all were having the time of our lives.
Last ITBP camp of India -
We reached the last ITBP (Indian Tibetan border police) camp and people were distributing breakfast there. We got to know that the China border was only a few Kms away from there!!!
After walking a bit further, we saw a lot of people. About few hundred people were lined up for the darshan of Karu Baba ji and take their blessings.
We also took the blessings of Karu Baba and headed back where food was being served.
Food was really amazing and everyone were having a good time. We all considered ourselves lucky to visit there on the same day as we didn’t knew about this ceremony before.
We headed back to Chitkul after having food and a little photography session. I will suggest everyone should visits Chitkul on the day of janmashtami to witness this unique experience of going beyond the last village of India.
Thanks for your time!!!
