After a long and intense morning spent sightseeing in Budapest, we took a short nap and then set off to explore the city again. As the sun was slowly approaching the horizon, without unnecessary wandering around the city, we headed straight to the previously chosen viewpoint from which we wanted to watch the sunset, namely the Gellert Hill towering over the city. On the top of the mountain, which is 235 meters above sea level, there is a citadel built in the years 1850-1854. The Austrians were responsible for its construction, who after the fall of the Hungarian Spring of Nations erected the citadel as a fortified gate to the city. It turned out that this place is really popular and a real crowd of city residents, and to a lesser extent tourists, came to this place to admire the sunset. In retrospect, we only regret that we did not prepare any wine with us for the trip to the viewpoint, because these crowds drinking Hungarian wines made us very hungry. When the sun had set and the city was illuminated by street lights, Budapest gained additional charm. Then we descended from Gellért Hill and headed along the western bank of the Danube, to the place where we had the illuminated building of the Hungarian Parliament, called Országház in Hungarian, opposite us. Without a doubt, this building, erected in 1904, is the most recognizable symbol not only of Budapest, but also of the whole of Hungary. The parliament was built on a marshy, boggy area adjacent to the uninhabited part of the city, which until its opening did not enjoy a good reputation, and was even widely avoided by the residents of Budapest. After its opening, this place became a real new city center. 1,000 people worked on the construction of this neo-Gothic building, who together laid 40 million bricks. 40 kilograms of gold and half a million precious stones were used to decorate the interior. We spent the entire evening sitting by the river and gazing at the parliament building until late at night, when we slowly walked back to our rented apartment.

Po długim i intensywnym, poranku spędzonym na zwiedzanie Budapesztu zrobiliśmy sobie małą drzemkę, a po niej ponownie ruszyliśmy na zwiedzanie miasta. Ponieważ słońce pomału zbliżało się do horyzontu bez zbędnego kręcenia się po mieście ruszyliśmy prosto na wcześniej upatrzony punkt widokowy, z którego chcieliśmy obserwować zachód słońca czyli górującą nad miastem Górę Gellerta. Na szczycie góry liczącej 235 metrów nad poziomem morza znajduje się cytadela zbudowana w latach 1850–1854. Za jej powstanie odpowiedzialni byli Austriacy, który po upadku węgierskiej wiosny ludów wznieśli cytadele stanowiącą ufortyfikowaną bramę do miasta. Okazało się, że to miejsce jest naprawdę popularne i prawdzie tłumu mieszkańców miasta, oraz z mniejszym stopniu turystów przyszły w to miejsce aby podziwiać zachód słońca. Z perspektywy czasu żałujemy tylko tego, że nie przygotowaliśmy ze sobą na wyjście na punkt widokowy żadnego wina, bo te tłumy popijające sobie węgierskie wina, zrobiły nam ogromny apetyt.
Gdy już słońce zaszło, a miasto rozświetliło oświetlenie uliczne Budapeszt zyskał dodatkowy urok. Wówczas zeszliśmy z góry Gellerta skierowaliśmy się wzdłuż zachodniego brzegu Dunaju, aż do miejsca gdzie naprzeciwko siebie mieliśmy rozświetlony gmach parlamentu Węgierskiego po węgiersku zwany Országház. Bez dwóch zdań ten wzniesiony w roku 1904 budynek jest najbardziej rozpoznawalnym symbolem nie tylko Budapesztu, ale także i całych Węgier. Parlament wzniesiono na podmokłym bagnistym terenie przyległym do nie zamieszkałem wówczas części miasta, która do momentu otwarcia nie cieszyła się dobrą sławą, a wręcz była obchodzona szerokim łukiem przez mieszkańców Budapesztu. PO otwarciu miejsce to stało się prawdziwym nowym centrum miasta. Przy budowie tej neogotyckiej budowli pracowało 1000 osób, który razem wmurowali 40 milionów cegieł. Do ozdobienia wnętrz wykorzystano 40 kilogramów złota i poł miliona kamieni szlachetnych. Na siedzeniu nad rzeką i wpatrywaniu się w budynek parlamentu upłyną nam cały wieczór, aż do późnych godzin nocnych, kiedy to powolnym spacerem wróciliśmy do naszego wynajętego mieszkania.
