In the city of Pistoia not far from where I live a few days ago there was a return to the Middle Ages! Pistoia has a long medieval history and Piazza del Duomo is a perfect representation of a medieval square, it is also a place of pilgrimage for the relic of San Jacopo, the patron saint of the city much loved by religious people. Pistoia was among the main Tuscan cities in the Middle Ages and today preserves many historical places of cultural interest.

For two days Pistoia was the theater of the Middle Ages, with various figures, knights, beautiful madams and madams with long and fascinating dresses that rub along the rocky streets of the city centre, in every corner there is some figure and then there was the parade of historical clothes made by a famous historical company of the city. A procession that unraveled through the various streets of the historic center, followed by musicians with drums, a beautiful atmosphere. In the square there were tents and stalls, with drinks and food but also handicrafts and ancient games and crafts with detailed representations and explanations. The falconers present at the event were also very beautiful, with falcons with very beautiful plumage and expert falconers who, if you wanted, made you hold the falcon on your arm but I was afraid, they have such sharp beaks!

There was also some beautiful armor to look at but not touch and the participants had very fierce duels with swords, obviously without getting hurt but very interesting to see and cheer for your favorite knight! Furthermore there were small theatrical shows about kings and queens which were very cute for children and also acrobats and street artists who cheered people up with their performances. It was a beautiful medieval festival although smaller than other Tuscan ones, we liked it.
