Noooo, my fitbit charge 2 strap somehow broke today but I have had it for 2.5 years and it has been through a lot so will have to get a new one when I'm back home (and have a job to pay for it lol). Nonetheless, it made it through the majority of the day so managed to track all of the days activity so a silver lining hey! Let's check out this magnificent national park 🙂

Kata Tjuta and Uluru Sunrise

Beautiful way to start the day here as we watched the sunrise at Uluru - some amazing colours of the clouds as they changed colour for the backdrop of Uluru.

Nearby to Uluru is another sacred area of land called Kata Tjuta. These amazing rock formations are arguably more impressive than Uluru and stand 200m taller than the lone rock.

We took a short walk through the canyon and went as far as the path allowed being made to feel tiny and insignificant as we went further in. It was unbelievably windy as well, taking your breath away!

Uluru Cultural Centre

We aren't allowed to take pictures in here but we have learned from a video and information placards about how boys are taught to hunt and what it takes for them to be a man by learning and traveling with their father, grandfather and older relatives.

The video told the story of how the land of Uluru was returned to the Aborigines and the significance of it for future generations. Now the land is owned by Aborigines but leased to the government for 99 years so that people may enjoy it (but definitely not climb on it).

Helicopter Ride Over Uluru & Kata Tjuta

This was the optional activity I booked and it was well worth it to see these amazing rocks from above. You just had a different view point and it seemed to change from every angle. I took more videos than photos and was lucky enough to get the front seat so prime position. An early birthday present 🙂

Sunset

At the back of our camp site is a great view point of the sunset over Kata Tjuta and Uluru which was another magical moment to watch. I'll definitely be getting up early again tomorrow morning for my birthday and watch it come in.

Take it easy folks!
