We enjoy visiting as many of the local public parkland areas as possible. I have run through this one a few times over the years but this was the first walk to the Wynnum wetlands bird hide and Elanora off leash dog area. It great they were able to convert it back into a nature area after once being the local rubbish dump.This loop is one of the turn around points for one of my run clubs twenty kilometre workout from Wynnum. It was good to be able to walk it on this occasion and have a bit of a look around rather than being totally exhausted and watching where I was putting my feet.There is this nice board walk through the mangroves and into the bay.The bird Hid, there were not too many birds to be see, probably because it was the middle of the day and the height of summer. I get the feeling early or late would be much better.We were not far from the Port of Brisbane. Just over that creek behind the mangroves is a major road and train line which services a pretty heavy Industrial area. I have worked there many times over the years. The big smoke stack is the last oil refinery in Brisbane. It is good to see it from a different angle emersed in nature and that some bird and wild life can survive so nearby The photo looks pretty calm and peaceful but I could hear all the traffic.
