It was not long before we noticed the golden statue on the hill that over looked the town. I was not that excited by another market, as we couldn't buy much as we were only travelling with carry on luggage. Maybe I could run or hike up the mountain while the others shopped. So next minute we had a new plan, @conscioucat and I would hike to the top and the other would drive. I really like travelling when we have enough flexibility to be able to mix things up on the go.

This Buddhist Temple was sitting on top of Dio Saket mountain about 420 metres above sea level. Apparently first build in the 6 century after a visit from Lord Buddha himself.

it was our first temple on this trip which was not as big as some of the other in Thailand but it sure was impressive and there were not too many tourists around which is always an added bonus.

This little adventure was part of our Asian loop holiday back in November 2023. Sort of playing catch up after missing a lot of travel during covid, visiting some family and trying to pick up some international parkruns in south east Asia.

goggle showed us the right way but if all else fails just follow the yellow Songthaew taxi.

There were quite a few other beautiful buildings at the top which included a bell tower, the main pagoda and the monks quarters.

The highlight was definitely the golden Buddha at the top of the stairs.

From memory there was like 200 odd steps which on a hot day definitely had us working up a sweat.

Once we got back to the bottom we still had enough time to check the market out.

In the end it was only a short walk but definitely a good one.
