We almost stayed at the Hotel on the hill overlooking the beach. Every now and again we splash out and pay extra for something nice, this place was tempting because it had its own day spa and hot thermal pools. Unfortunately, it was all extra on top of a room and we really did not have enough time to take advantage of all it had to offer. Maybe next time. In the end, we decided on just a small motel which was much cheaper and I got a great conversation about Hive and running with the guy who checked us in. He has my sign-up link but some people take more time than other to come around. There was a lot of seaweed on the foreshore promenade so much, it looks like it was causing problems, but the rest of the main beach looked fine. It would have been a great spot for a run and swim, but it was a bit windy, so I just decided on a run near our accommodation nearer the main shopping area. These domes had me wondering, a very strange place for some storage tanks but it used an Aquarium. Apparently, years ago they put tanks down in between the rocks and you could walk around, unfortunately it all got too old and it got filled in.There was a nice little walk across the Merri River to Pickering Point which had a good view of Stingray Bay and Merri Island.Basically, Warrnambool was just an overnight stay on our way from South Australia to a house sit we were booked in for in Victoria but well worth a stop.
