It was a busy day! A storm had hit Adelaide; we were scrambling around trying to find a parkrun had had not cancelled. We found one and made it back to our accommodation just before our hotel buffet breakfast finished and check out! Next up we drove down to Normanville to visit my cousin, our first face to face meeting in more than 20 years. After a good catchup and some lunch, we started heading for Victoria, but it was getting late in the day, and we really needed to organise some accommodation. Usually, we have everything planned well in advance but not on this day. We were thinking we could just wing it, not being peak holiday time. @consciouscat was checking airbnb and booking.com as I drove. All the decent places to stay seemed to be disappearing quickly until the Pit Lane Hotel showed up. I was picturing some run-down motel but had forgot Tailem Bend had a big motor sport track.I had no idea there would be some reasonable value rooms right in the middle of a motorsports park and as the name says, it was right on Pit Lane. What a good idea! but it must cost a small fortune if they have an event on. Unfortunately, we only had a few of the car park but even so it was a great overnight stay on route to Victoria.All the cars in reception was quite a treat. I did a bit of a run and explored some of the open areas.I was a bit surprised how close I could get.Though there was nothing happening on the main track there seemed to be a few cars practicing on a warmup track out the back. My phone struggled to zoom in and get a decent photo with the low light.
