There is over 40 shows per week held at the Sydney Opera House something for everyone! I suppose it is quite bad on my part that I have never seen one. The closest I ever got was walking up to reception in my running gear, everyone else was all dress up. They looked at me strange, but I just want to see what it looked like on the inside without having to buy some ticket. I have never seen a show, but I have sure seen the outside many times. It must be the most well recognised building in Australia. It was opened in 1973 by Queen Elizabeth, I don't really remember the occasion, maybe it was because it was under construction for so long, I was young and had lots of hold ups and ran way over budget. The sail like design was made up of precast concrete shells moved carefully into place over a ribbed frame. It sits on a bit of land called Bennelong Point. Bennelong was an Aboriginal Elder from the time of European settlement; I wonder what he would have thought of it all. From the pedestrian path that goes up and over the harbour bridge.A view from the train going over the Sydney Harbour bridge. There are many ways to see the Opera House one of my favorites, if you're lucky is flying in or out of Sydneys Kingsford Smith airport. The view from Milsons Point, Kirribilli on the northside of the Harbour. It can get quite crowded on a nice day. International and local tourists everywhere.Number 846th on UNESCO,s world heritage list. Ai reckons there is 1248 at the moment. I think I have seen about 50 of them so far.
