They recon it has been on every year for the past 26 years, but I had never heard of it! We only live an hour and a bit up the road. It took an interstate visitor who was staying with us to bring it to our attention. I was expecting sand sculptures along the beach front, but this was even better. Free entry but we had to park a few kilometres away and use the complementary shuttle bus. I did plan to do a loop of the beach front road looking for a car park closer, but when I saw the crowds, I quickly gave up. Being a really nice day, we would have had to arrive really early, and it looks like everyone had then set up camp for the day. The shuttle bus was quick and efficient.

The sculptures were in place for 10 days we were there on the last day. It must have cost a small fortune to set up and manage. I expect they need security over night as well.

The sculptures were spread out over 1.5 kilometres from Currumbin Alley to Flat Rock in Tugun.

The detail on this one made it one of my favorites. I actually saw a few whales way of shore from the top of Elephant Rock lookout too but they were to hard to photograph.

I liked this big rusty one as well, I did not find out what it was all about but I think it reminded me of my old industrial workplace.
