Strahan is situated on the mouth of the Gordon river on the west coast of Tasmania, pretty much a long way from any where surrounded by wilderness but a great place to visit. We were able to find some great accommodation not too far from the middle to town.Lots of old interesting history. A real life Thomas the tank train turn table. The old mining rail road still runs today with the same rolling stock as a tourist attraction.Who would has thought leaving old stuff around rusting would end up a tourist attraction.Strahan on a good day is just so photogenic. One morning the garden was full of these big black slugs. The samsung s21 phone camera goes all right on the close up too.Beautiful sunset and fantastic company.Everywhere you looked there was a good photo.Strahan township.Calm morning sunrise.Up early before everyone else is out and about Strahan's main street. The morning sun lite up the old post office and customs building beautifully.Risby Cove used to be a Sawmill but has now been turned into Hotel and Restaurent.Risby Cove is part of Macquarie Harbor the largest inlet on Tasmania's west coast.I am sure these bull ants would give a nasty bite. Suppose they need to be big down here the trees are so big and hard too.Macquarie Heads at the mouth of the Gordan River.Would be a great place to do some kayaking if we had more time.Strahan Ocean Beach LookoutWe went for a quick swim.It would have been fun to have a 4wd vehicle and cruise but the beach a bit. That's it from Tasmania's rugged West coast.
