This trip was from a while back. We seem to enjoying going to places that are not that busy nowadays. This was the last Christmas school holidays and any where on the coastline would be booked out, pricey and crowded. Don't get me wrong we really like the beach but anywhere inland just seems like a much better deal during peak periods. You really have to pick your times to get a good deal nowadays. We were not feeling so clever when we saw the weather and we had to do most of the long drive in and out of pretty heavy rain clouds.Luckily it had started to fine up just as we arrived into town.I have driven past this place many times but never ventured off the highway for a look around this old timber and farming town. Our accommodation was the old star hotel which had been totally renovated. It looked great on booking .com but pulling into the car park I was not so sure and you never really know.I find it very Interesting to know the history of a place. I am not sure it can be 5 star without a restaurant and a front desk? but it sure looked nice.Check in was just read the paper work and use the access code on your mobile phone message. The high ceiling definitely gave the place a big spacious feel. The bathroom was huge.Time for a long bath after a long drive.Sunrise rise on the quite Wauchope streets and after a good rest we were off to a new parkrun before driving further south.
