About 100 kilometres south of Brisbane central business district, straight down the M1 motorway is Snapper Rocks right on the New South Wales Border. It and the surrounding beaches are one of my most favorite places. It is the start of the Gold Coast surfing reserve which is a16 kilometre long coastline full of beautiful white sandy beaches.

I have never surfed here as it looks a bit too technical for my experience level with all the rocks and large number of surfers. I just stick to the smaller sandy beach breaks around the corner,

On a good day you can easily see the Surfer Paradise high rise holiday apartments at the northern end of the Gold Coast.

This is more my style usually smaller and cleaner just around the corner at Rainbow Bay Beach. It was originally called sharks Bay but was renamed after HMS Rainbow which surveyed the area in 1828.
