There is another new parkrun in town we decided to visit for there 4th event, they were still getting large numbers for tourists who were all keen to add a new event stat to there 5km runner app. It almost felt like a party. I was hoping that I wouldn't see anyone I knew as I hate people seeing me walk. My ankle got swollen and is only going down slowly, at least it's on the mend and was happy to be able to walk after a few weeks of volunteering.
This community on the north side of Brisbane has been waiting for there own event for ages. You have to raise $1000s of dollars now to get a parkrun off the ground. The tokens and vests don't seem that expensive but the have to have a defibrillator as well nowadays. They seem to have a huge group of volunteers which made the morning go very smoothly. There future volunteer roster was pretty full too which is a great sign for a young event.
The course was two laps of a little bit of everything. A long a creek and under a bridge.
You have to watch the barbed wire on the paddock fence.
A few of the local came down to watch and were looking very healthy and well looked after.
It definitely had a country feel even though we were only half an hour from the middle of Brisbane.
We caught up with quite a few friends and made some new ones.
I had the Hive shirt out and about.
I have not finished that far down the field for ages.
