Sunrise on the Jack Gordan Pathway 6:37am

Some times its worth getting up at the crack of dawn and catching a sunrise even if it is cold. I suppose 8 degrees is not that cold but for us Queenslander's anything under 10 degrees Celsius feels out of place and requires something more than just t-shirt, shorts and thongs.

Redland Bay is 35 kilometres south west of Brisbane. Not long ago it was mainly a fishing and farming area but as Brisbane has expanded and transport has improved so lots of the farms have been sub divided and turned into a popular housing estate.

It is also a ferry gateway to some of southern islands of Moreton Bay.

The course was a two laps of Sel Outridge Australian Rules Football ground then out and back along the pathway with a turn around at the Redland Bay Golf Course.

No trip to Redland Bay is complete with out a visit to Ruster’s Reserve a netted swimming spot and the big old Fig tree.

As a swimming spot its not the best, small and rocky under foot, not much sand, but not too bad for cooling off on a hot day in summer. It would need to be a little bigger than the approximately 25 metres long area for me to get fired up enough to swim some laps.

The pelican and Darts seem to like the posts, Must be a decent spot to see any fish that are about.
