Pirrama parkrun has got to be one of the most iconic parkruns in Australia. Mainly because it is run right along Sydney Harbour with the famous coat hanger bridge in the background. It has not been going for that long. Ever since it was an announced a couple of years ago it had me wondering how they ever got approval from council in such a touristy place. Restrictions on any sort of new public event seems to be a nightmare from that I have heard from other event teams. Any way it is great if you're ever staying in the middle of Sydney central business district, like we were on this trip. It was just a short walk or jog through Darling Harbour to starting area. The warmup was a bit of a high light as well; it was great to go through a usually pack out tourist area when it was almost empty. The harbour is busy any time of day.I am so used to seeing all the big cruise ships at circular quay. I suppose the ships staying a bit longer dock a bit further away. The first timers brief, make sure you listen because a wrong turn here could turn into a park swim. This spectacular two lap course can get crowded; it included a loop in Pirrama park then we went along the harbour towards the Anzac Bridge turn around and back to the start. Anzac Bridge. There were toilets and water near the start line and plenty of expensive food options nearby for breakfast.
