The good old days way back in 2020 when parkrun used to do double events back-to-back on New Years Day morning. They were optional for event teams to organise with another nearby event. We used to call them parkrun New Years Day doubles. We were on holiday in Sydney and it was the perfect opportunity to pick up a new event or two. Penrith lakes parkrun is held in the Sydney International Regatta Centre which was purpose built for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. These special event days were popular and used to attract big crowds. The run brief complete with sign language interpreter. The course was fast and flat just the way I like them. New Year is summer time in Australia and the weather was getting hot early. We needed to save ourselves a big too for the following event. We were about 60 kilometres west of the Sydney Central business district, about one hours drive. Sydney is a big place. We have collected a few of these location square photos now. It was my 45 different event location. @consciouscat has done more locations and volunteers but I have more total events. We did not have time to check out and of the other things in the area. The white-water stadium might have been interesting.I don't think the little beach was really built for a place to swim too many big and awkward rocks, but it was hot enough for a quick dip and cool off before heading off to the next one.
