The Café is connected to the Pelican Slipway boat repairs. Redland Bay has always been a bit of a quiet and sleepy area, so far out from the Brisbane CBD but by the looks of the new housing development things are about to get a lot busier.

Well I never knew they used to operate this location as a Sea plane airport back in 1950s to 70s.

The Café is opposite the Redland Bay marina which has a ferry service for the people that life out on the bay island. It was not long ago you could buy some really cheap land out on these islands. It is still a fair bit cheaper than the main land if you like the quiet life.

We have yet to make it out and visit the southern bay island group but it does look like a nice day out with some nicer weather.

Our five kilometre walk with the dotted line vehicular ferry to the top of screen shot and the passenger ferry dotted below. We dodged the rain as well!

The break wall was a haven for the local bird life. I think they were just trying to find a place to rest out of the wind.
