I am a bit behind with my travel posts and have been lucky enough to be able to use some of my long service leave from work to get a few extra short trips in this and last year.

Thirty years ago, I backpacked in the north of Thailand and hiked up into some mountains on a multi day trek and stayed in an Karen Village. So Mon Jam is my second Thailand mountain village visit but this one was a lot closer to Changi Mia. It is possible to hike there but we had the luxury of a local drive us up the mountain on this day late 2023. It  was interesting to compare the differences between to the two mountain villages. The biggest difference was probably to 30 years apart and so much tourism and technology. Glamping tents dotted the mountain side very different to  the huts we stayed in years ago. You could even have a bath while watch the sunset over the valley below. There was no glamping for us this time as were  just on a day trip but there was time for lunch at one of the restaurants. We  were not able to stay for sunset either which we have hear can be spectacular.  The afternoon storm clouds rolling in we fascinating and probably would have spoilt sunset as it did start raining on the way home.

On the way.
