This was our second time to Jindabyne this year, which is unusual for us especially as it’s a 14 hour drive each way. But as we had purchased season-long lift passes for the Perisher ski resort, and when we found out we both had a quiet week of work ahead, we just booked some last minute accommodation, packed the car and hit the road to try and to make the most of the lift tickets. Luckily, we could share the driving and since some of @consciouscat’s family live along the way, we could break up the long journey with a visit.

We got super lucky and scored a free accommodation upgrade. We had booked the cheapest park view, ground floor unit but ended up with the top floor, lake view apartment. It was great to see the same lake but under the different light of sunrise and sunset without having to leave the comfort of our room.

I have heard the lake level was quite low in winter and rises much higher in summer as all the snow on the local mountains melt.

There were also some interesting art works and sculptures dotted around a five kilometre path which hugged the lake’s edge.

There were also a number of bars close by which topped off a very enjoyable visit to Lake Jindabyne. Caroline chose a Raspberry Mojito. She liked it so much that she had another. And I had my first ever Canadian Club whisky.

It was a big trip but a good one! Now, back to work to save up for the next one.
