It was a wet, cold and windy day in Canberra and we had a spare day after visiting family. We were wondering what to do. After a bit of a study of a map we decided on a lap of Lake Burley Griffin, formally the Molonglo River before they dammed it and turned the farming land into Australia’s Capital City.

First stop was the tourist information and Exhibition Centre that had this great three dimension model map, showing Black Mountain to the left, Mount Ainslie to the right and New Parliament house in the foreground.

We got out and walked within about 10 metres, they appeared to be all free just roaming around feeding on the grass but a lot were tagged and marked as if in some sort of monitoring program.
