How good is Horseshoe Bay on the mid coast of New South Wales. Well technically Horseshoe Bay is not in this photo but just in front of us, it is only actually only a small part of Trial Bay, but the parkrun is named after the small reserve where the run starts. The township is called Southwest Rocks. Trial Bay was named after a timber Brig ship called Trial, which was seized by 13 convicts in 1816 and forced its crew and passengers to sail north from Sydney Harbour instead of south to Tasmania. The Ship was wrecked in this bay while trying to stop and refill with drinking water. Local aboriginal legend has it that after the wreck the convicts tried to sail north in a smaller boat, but they capsized and drowned. The passengers and crew tried to walk to Newcastle through the bush but where never seen again. A bit of a sad story but still a great place to visit. We camped overnight at the old Trial Bay Goal next to the Arakoon National Park. The course was a double out and back along Salt Creek, which had a nice path the whole way. There was not a big crowd, The young girl led us to the first turn around then I got to the front. parkrun is never a race but get me anywhere near the front and I start to push a little harder. I ended up first finisher on this day but the younger girls older sister almost caught me at the end.I lapped a few of the people just taking it easy.My 35th different event back on 31/08/2019
