We were up early for an hour and a half drive west from Brisbane to a little place called Hidden Vale. This place is up to their 35th event and it has been our NENDY since it started "nearest event not done yet" We were saving it for the summer months when we naturally wake a bit earlier with the longer days. It was an enjoyable drive and as I thought, we had never been this way before. parkrun is good for taking to places you might have not otherwise been. I had heard of the place a few times, one because of some bad flooding a few years ago but it has recovered well and there were no signs of any damage. It is also part of the Scenic Rim and there is a lot of good hiking and mountain bike trails. The parkrun is on Spicers land, and they have another lodge 96 kilometres away I am pretty sure they do a running event to get between the two place but that is a little out of my league, I am happy to stick to the five-kilometre parkruns at the moment. The run brief for the 44, mainly tourists that showed up.The straight out and back course was on a gravel fire trail and was pretty much 2.5 kilometres up and then mostly downhill on the way back which made for a good negative split.Breakfast afterwards was good with a couple of other uber parkrun tourists. I was worried it would be pretty expensive in such a nice place, but we were pleasantly surprised and it was great value for money.
