Granite Island is just off the Victor harbour Coastline, about an hour's drive South of Adelaide. Though there was a lot of road works which might have made our trip a bit slower but should be faster when they get it all finished. It is like a small version of Kangaroo Island but a hell of a lot cheaper, mainly because you don't need an expensive ferry ride and accommodation. Not as much wildlife or sandy beaches but still lots of wind-swept Rocky scenery and breath-taking lookouts.I had been here more than 30 years ago. I distinctly remember walking along the old wooden bridge which had a horse drawn tourist trolly cart, it was back in my backpacking and driving around Australia days. I love the way they kept the start and end of the old bridge and just build the new modern structure alongside. They still have the horse drawn trolley but now on some sort of rubberised path just like the modern playgrounds. It was good to run along, some extra bounce that made me feel like I was going a bit faster. I just needed to dodge the horse poo. I think it was $20 one way on the horse draw trolley. I still have not experienced it as it seems much more convenient and quicker just to walk. They get a few penguins at this little beach at different times during the year. There was a roped off section where the nest. But they made for some good views. Some of the locals
