Gainsborough Greens is an interesting parkrun. It is located halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I remember when there was nothing there at all for years just some trees and a bit of swamp land near the coast. We must have driven past it hundreds of times before the population exploded and the developers got hold of it and turned everything into housing. It is totally built out now between Brisbane and the famous Gold Coast. Lucky the councils and state government make the developers put some green spaces and parks in. May be that is why buying a house is so expensive nowadays, all the costs just have to get passed on. At least parkrun is free. A weekly timed 5 km event. It is not supposed to be a race but for me as soon as you get more than two people together, the pace starts to increase. The interesting part to Gainsborough Greens is they actually moved the start location to a nearby sporting complex because there were more car spaces and a toilet and parkrun HQ made them change their name to Gainsborough parklands parkrun. Seemed like a lot of hassle to me but a least getting this run done before they moved means we ended up with 2 different events on our event history list.Generally fast and flat on this double out and back paved course. My 49th different event done.Errol is another uber parkrun tourist friend of ours.@consciouscat saw a snake cross the path just as she was finishing. The new start and finish area is just past the top of the photo.
