Forest Lake was my first parkrun starting with an F and my 28 different location overall way back in 2019. Forest Lake was one of the first purpose suburbs built in Brisbane. Sixteen kilometres south west of Brisbane city, they made 7000 odd houses around a shopping centre and lake. I remember the blocks of land where really small, walls of houses where allow to be on property boundaries and the roads where so narrow there was no room to park cars on the street. I thought there was no chance it would catch on but boy how wrong I was. I grew up with more space and a bigger yard but nowadays people seem so busy they are attracted to the smaller, newer place with a lot less work and maintenance. We were there for event 66 in June 2019 with 81 other runners and walkers they get a few more nowadays but it is still not a big parkrun. I was tenth overall in a time of twenty three minutes and fourteen seconds.A bit of sprint finish is always a bit of fun.Photo credits to parkrun volunteer photographer. The laps around the oval were after parkrun just trying to build up a few more kilometres. The official five kilometre course was pretty flat on a concrete path starting and finishing at the Sports Fields. A Y shaped out and back with two dead turnarounds and one under pass. Coffee afterwards was walking distance just across the main road at the Simple Bliss Cafe and it had a view of the Lake.
