East Coast parkrun, Singapore

November 2023 · 2 min read · Southeast
It’s always an exciting adventure planning, getting to and running a new parkrun especially an international one. East Coast Park parkrun was no exception. Usually we like to stay as close as possible to the parkrun as we find it hard work moving around too much, but we also like to stay in the best value accommodation with the most things to do near by. So for us this time it was a nice place in Chinatown. The only problem with China town was it meant an early morning grab taxi to parkrun.

We were only travelling with carry on back pack luggage and after parkrun it was straight to the airport and a flight to the next leg of journey.

As parkrun starts early we were treated to a nice sunrise, they are very yellow and orange in this part of the world.

A crowd of about a 100 showed up for the parkrun lots of tourist like us. The course was fast and flat but we were running slow the humidity in Singapore during wet season takes a bit of getting use to. We were able to shower at a toilet block in the east coast park before organising another grab taxi to the airport.

Breakfast at the airport probably not the best I have ever had but there was no spare time to hang out with the parkrun locals at there favourite coffee venue.

As usual we arrived at the airport early and made use of the time parkrun faffing, going over the new stats we had just collected. East Coast parkrun had completed my compass club. A parkrun done with all the compass point in the name. Jet setter is now up to 3, my 3rd international parkrun done. Freyne club is my 116th different parkrun.

No chance of getting lost on this easy out and back course. Thanks for reading and we are looking forward to our next new parkrun.
