There are many parkruns in England to choose from. My cousin had some local knowledge and had picked a good one for us near them. After more than a 140 different events it is still exciting to get to visit a new location. Delamere was in a nice forest with plenty of tree cover over a hard packed trail path around a lake. The start and finish area was near by a huge cafe and information centre that could easily handle the 400 plus runners and walkers straight after we had finished the event. As most places we have visited on this England trip, parking was quite expensive but it is hard to complain because the facilities were amazing. There were a few up and downs to and around the lake but that is no real excuse for my slowish time. This event had a narrow starting area for a big crowd so it was important to try and self seed, as not to get caught behind slower runners and walkers. I loved the way they started the people with dogs a couple of 100 metre in front then made them do a little extra out and back to help ease pressure in the start area. It worked so well to have most of the faster runners gone as the dogs rejoined the pack. Breakfast afterwards was good and I also enjoyed the local animal sculptures around the the trails. I was a bit worried about the weather forecast for my 499th event so we had a change of clothes really in the car just incase. Luckily other than a warm jacket afterwards they were not needed.
