I was so looking forward to seeing the Sea Cliff Bridge just north of Wollongong. It was not even built the last time I drove down this part of the coast. It was a bit disappointing that it was so misty, but it happens and every trip can’t be the perfect photographic image. It was built in 2005 after the old road was closed due to too many rock falls. $52 million Aud for 450 metres of road, I am surprised they did not put some sort of toll on it. Overall, it is still a nice spot and everyone seems to stop for a few ocean view photos.

Not far down the road was this nice beach, we were in no hurry, so we stopped for a bit to eat and a bit of a walk around.

Coledale was named after its coal deposits but the mine was closed a long time ago due to ground water. They reckoned it was a spelling mistake and should have been spelled Coaldale. Nowadays it is just a small holiday spot with a good local market.

The Coledale caravan park was right on the beach front. We were only just over an hours drive south from Sydney but it felt like a different world. There was a lot of National parks behind heading up the Illawarra escarpment. I much prefer this north end of the Wollongong coastline, but the Suburb median $2,425,000 AUD house price of this little town seems to be well out of my budget.
