parkrun takes me to so many places I would have otherwise never have been, Casula Parklands was definitely one of these occasions. I had never even heard of Casula. We would been visiting family in Sydney and we heard a newish event had started up. We were there for their 8th event back in 2021 and my 71st different location. It was about a forty-minute drive west of Sydney near Liverpool on the Georges River. We parked and started at the old PowerStation which is now an arts and entertainment centre. It was only a small crowd but @consciouscat still knew a few people.I tried to go with some faster people but quickly fell behind. Casula is named after the first Europe farm which was set up here in 1809. It sounds a bit French, but Mr Robert Guise came out to Sydney on an English ship from Portsmouth as a Corporal and soon joined a regiment in New South Wales. He then had a wine and spirit licence for the Jolly Sailor pub before getting the land grant in Casula. It sounds like he did very well for himself epically since the average house price here now goes for over 1.25 million Aud. Of course, for a long time before that it was Dharawal Aboriginal people of southwestern Sydney. We had coffee and breakfast after in the powerhouse. The course has changed since we did were there. It is still two laps, but they start and finish near the middle at the playgrounds
