We heard on the Great Vine that there was a new parkrun in town. The Great Vine is when you get information but don’t want to reveal the source. Ours is a is a pretty good source for anything running related in our area. Officially parkrun head quarters try to keep new parkruns launches as quite as possible.

We stayed away last week, as it was there first event and parkrun is starting to get really popular down under in Australia.  Lots of people like to show up on the first day as it sort of a party atmosphere but it can cause problems if the nearby factices get swamped with way more people than there designed for. For example the local shopping centre and carpark for this parkrun only has about 75 car spaces but 400 people showed up for there first event last week. 

With the launch done we though we would go and check it out and get another new parkrun location for our collection. We parked at the local train station that was only a 10 minute walk away as not to cause any parking issues for the locals. The train station looked pretty new as well.

The crowd was starting to build when I got back but there was only 226 runner and walkers instead of last weeks 400. 150 of the 226 were first timers like us to this event meaning they may have about 50 - 70 odd locals.

Capestone Lakes is a newish suburb north of Brisbane and has some great permanent artworks on the pathways around around the lake path.

The course was a double out and back, one to the other side of the lake and the other a short one just to make up the distance on a pretty flat concrete path except for the grassed turn arounds.

My 438th 5 kilometre parkrun done in a time of 25:52 which gave me an age graded score of 60.4% at my 124th different location. Thanks for reading!
