I was in need for some fencing pipes for a project at my sons place Capalaba Produce has been around for a long time, since 1954 supplying all sorts of farming products just may have had the things I needed. Me not being a farmer have never really been visited this place before but I suppose in the early days, the whole of the Redland shire was farming land. You can not miss where they are located with this colourful corrugated iron rooster out the front. photo credit for this one to Capalaba produce face book advertising. I could not get the right angle or light due to traffic and the time of day.As I walked in I thought there was a bird loose inside, occasionally in these open air types of buildings, birds sometimes fly in and have trouble finding there way out, but this was no rouge bird, this was some very well trained black cockatoo. no chain or cage to be seen just this magnificent bird sitting on one of the sales counters happily chewing away on a tree branch. They did not have the parts I needed but it was great looking around.I could not get enough of this amazing bird, I have seen them before in the wild but never this close. It is like he or she is one of the staff, just doing its job. That strong beak was easy crushing the sticks, they usually eat seeds but I think it was crushing the stick looking for tiny insects. They had lots of old things almost like a museum. The Kiwi Café looked great and had lots of Knick knacks for sale.Teds corner has a free petting zoo in the school holidays. It was not holidays but there were still a few farm animals around. Thanks for visiting with me but I still need to find some fencing gear.
