I have done a lot of running here over the years. I was even there for their first parkrun trial. The trial was held on a Sunday it ended up quite funny as Capalaba has this unique one kilometre inner loop which is done first before you head out to the Killarney Street turn around. The first three runners must not have been listening to the run brief or just did not understand because when I got to the marshal I questioned her directions. I was sure she had sent the leaders the wrong way. She understood her mistake instantly. I tried to yell out to the others in front but they were gone trying to catch some of the tail walkers. So in this weird twist of fate after the one kilometre mark I was now into the lead. I think the 3 leaders ended up doing six kilometres instead of five and were not able to catch me. My first parkrun win but it does not show up on any of my stats or parkrun records because it was a trial.Always check the weather and facebook page before traveling to this parkrun as the course can get flood. It does not happen often but I have seen it close and cancel a couple of times when the river breaks it's banks. There are a couple of other events nearby but it can be a hassle to change last minute especially if your running late. You can see how high the water level got on the rainbow coloured icy pole sticks.
