Calamvale parkrun is about 30 minutes’ drive south from Brisbane’s central business district. We have only done it the once back in 2021, so we are overdue for another visit soon. It was my 68th different event. Located inside the Calamvale District and Formby Streets parks. It is two and a-bit laps on concrete pathway which can get narrow in places but luckily, they usually don’t get huge crowds. I also remember a bit of wooden board walk and a small bridge in a sort of rain forestry area. Google maps call it Sheep Station Gully.

Calamvale was named after James Calam an early settler and landowner. It was known as Calamvale long before it became a suburb in 1972. It is pretty well known for the Calamvale Hotel which I think I visit once after work in my younger days. The average house price is 1.25 million Aud here which is not surprising as it is so close to town.

The field of runners and walker spread out pretty quick, but you do have to be mindful while overtaking some of the slower runners and walkers on the second lap.

They have a pretty cool playground set up as well we do really need to revisit.

24:45 was a little slow for me back then but I would be happy with that nowadays. It looks pretty simple on the map to follow, but I remember not really having a clue where I was or how far to go, lucky there was always someone to follow.
