We do not get into town much but when we do it is always a pleasant surprise. In the old days it has been too busy, dirty and parking was a hassle. Quite often we would drive most of the way in then switch to a train to try and make it easier but that ended up a lot longer. Luckily this time @consciouscat found a much better way. It is always worth checking and comparing all available options. In the end we were able to get 3 hours casual parking right in the middle of town, 500 meters away from our destination for $7. Less than the train fares.Mianjin is the word the traditional Aboriginal custodians called this land that is shaped like a spike. The Spikey shaped land on the Brisbane river and the southern half of the central business district.I just love the Brisbane winter weather, cloudless sky's and a pleasent 20 degrees Celsius. There always seems to be a lot of construction going on these cranes are on top of the new Queens Wharf Casino building. It looks like the botanic Gardens used to be called Queens park.Where were a few nice flowers and trees around but not a lot, maybe because it was our winter. The water in the fountain pond looked a bit like the river, dirty and cold. I often wonder if the river was ever clean, clear and good for swimming in the olden days. With such a big city population and pollution nowadays, it just does not seem that inviting.
