There are so many little place around Brisbane I have never been to even though I have lived here for more than 25 years. The Historic Newstead house and park is one of them. The bend in the Brisbane river and breakfast creek made it a good spot for boats and ships to get ashore so the early pioneers to set up a government building. I was interested to see the building up close but also do a bit of a walk along the river as the council have done a lot of work there over the past few years. The park is nice but not that big.It would be a great spot to bring our bike and explore some more.We I never have seen an Africana Sausage tree, we must have a similar climate. I do not think you can eat the sausages but I think some animals like it.You can just make out the Famous Breakfast Creek pub on the other side of the creek. They named the pedestrian bridge Yowoggera which is an Aboriginal word meaning corroboree or ceremony as the traditional custodians of the area used to have gatherings around the creek and river too.The river walk between Breakfast creek and Bretts Wharf was named after Lores Bonney the first Woman to fly from Australia to England. They like there aviators around there as the main road along the river is called Kingsford Smith drive who was another Brisbane born person who was the first to fly across the pacific to America, as well as none stop to New Zealand. Brisbane's major international airport is only a little short distance away so I suppose it ties it all together.
.
Thanks for visiting another section of the Brisbane river.
