Our first English parkrun and our seventh parkrun country. We were staying nearby in Portishead just outside of Bristol. We arrived early enough and I thought I had everything sorted but we needed to pay for parking. I could not believe the machine would only take coins or you have to down load an app. The parking app would not set up because I needed a local phone number and we were travelling with a data esim. Oh the last minute first world problems. I could have just moved the car to so nearby street but luckily for us. Another parkrunner saw us struggling of offered to pay. I accepted and offered to pay for coffee after with my card. The world can still be a nice place. For me parkrun just seems to bring the best out in people. This place had great facilities and parking. It was a pretty big parkrun and the cafe was full after the event but a great way to meet a few of the locals. The course was pretty much like this most of the way, a now well worn path by all the weekly parkrunners. All the travelling must be taking it out of me I was working so hard for a 25:45 minute parkrun that or I just must be getting old.Ha the 3:58 pace was just the finishing sprint to the end.The Castle or folly as one local described it. I suppose it was more just a tower but still interesting enough for a Australian tourist. None of parkruns have one back home.
