Blackbutt parkrun is held in the Richley Recreation Reserve, New Lambton, New South Wales. The course is run on a mixture of bitumen paths and grass. It has 120 metres of elevation gain which makes it one of the hardest in New South Wales and probably 10 ten in Australia! You have to do all the work in the first part of the run heading up hill, then there is a bit of an undulating ridge run before the fast downhill section.

$12 to park for parkrun. This is the first time I had to pay in Australia. They reckon the money goes towards to reserve. I would have been easy to park a few hundred metres down the road, but we had places to be and a hotel to check out off. They have got to a lot of trouble to protect these cashless machines. Not sure whether if they are worried about vandals or people accidently backing the car into them.

After the event briefing near the car park you walk, 100 metres to the start line.

It was an enjoyable run in a eucalypt forest even with the heat and hills. No parkrun volunteer photos for this run, I had to snap this one of @consciouscat mid run.

The locals head to the Blackbutt Hotel on Orchardtown Rd, which is a leisurely 800m walk from the finish line for coffee and cooked breakfast. We even looked at staying there the night before, but they have live music and disco on the weekends which had us looking at other options.
