Angourie is only 10 minutes drive south of Yamba, Northern New South Wales. If you saw my post last week about Yamba, this place is definitely worth a visit, and Angourie needed its own post. It's famous for it's surfing reserve and the Yuraygir National Park.

He or she looks pretty dangerous but seemed very friendly and welcoming.

There are two pools in the area, both man made. They used to mine rock from the pool pits to make the nearby Clarence River break wall 5km away. They mined away until they hit a natural underground spring and the pits filled with water (or so the nearby tourist information board says).

The Green Pool was just a short walk down the beach from the Blue Pool. They say these used to be good swimming spots but now there are warning signs about blue/green algae.

Continuing the walk along the beach towards Angourie Point. Not much of a surfing day as there was lots of foam washing up between all the rocks.

I’m guessing some kids must have made this teepee thing out of sticks.

The ocean was stormy, the sky was stormy, but thankfully the rain held off.

I’m not sure what made the rock this funny shape with these dimple-like things, but it was pretty cool.

From Angourie Point looking towards Angourie Bay and Yuraygir National Park. We want to revisit here some day and explore some of the hiking tracks in the national park.

There were many different kinds of flowers along our walk. A close up of a flower always gives a different perspective of the whole view.

On the way back, we noticed how powerful the ocean must have been to dislodge this slab of rock.
