Some things have to be planned and organised. As avid parkrun tourist and adventurers we like to try and visit as many new places as comfortably as possible per year. With limited recourses and time it helps to be well organised.

parkrun has two special events days per year each country has it's own special event days. Australia has Christmas and New years Day as there special events parkrun. Each local parkrun community can chose whether to put them on or not.

Christmas Day we stayed local to home and visited family and friends. Then if possible on New Years day we try to pick up a new location. This year New years day was on a Sunday that meant there was a double parkrun weekend available as Saturday is the normal regular parkrun day.

@consciuoscat studied the parkrun web site trying to see where we could easily pick up two different parkrun in new locations without too much hassle or travel. In the end, Armidale was perfect. 

We were able to get some reasonable priced accommodation and use Armidale as a base to pick up Walcha parkrun on the Saturday and then Armidale parkrun on the Sunday the 1st of January. The perfect start to new year.

Armidale was also a great base for picking up a few other walks and hikes in the New England Area, some where I have always wanted to check out. Previous I think I have only ever driven through this area on my way else where.

Just under six hours of driving time to Armidale from Brisbane. We like to have a rest and a short walk every hour of hours to break it up a bit.

Our Accommodation was a little bit out of town but it gave us more space and backed onto some horse paddocks.
