Holidays over and time to make the long ride back north to Bangkok but as always, this starts with a nerve racking boat ride.

Nerve-wracking because I worry about there being waves. There never usually is and to be honest, I love a bit of deep sea rock n roll normally, but not when I have the bike on board!

Left on the kickstand with a chock roughly wedges under the opposite side, a few scratches to the belly pan are the least of my worries .

Tickets are pretty reasonable. Just 360baht for the two of us and the bike is about £8 GBP or $11 USD . Getting there alive...priceless!

On this occasion we are using Raja ferries who are the second biggest operator between the mainland and Samui/Phangan. Also running a fleet of ex Chinese ferries, the one we are on today seems like a recent acquisition and a bit of an old wreck! They have started renovating the cabins with new seats but the whole ship is in dire need of a lick of paint and some TLC!

Let's hope we don't sink, we'd all drown whilst we rushed around looking for an interpreter!

The other thing I like about Raja ferries , apart from the fact it's only 2km from home is the way they've painted over the rust on the floors to create interesting maps of mountain ranges.....

This one is Le Massif Central in France I believe!

Providing I get off this barely floating rust bucket alive , I have a 782km ride back to Bangkok.

Seats are nice and plenty of choice of where to sit !

Well that's it. Another hour left on here and it's time to hit the road.

Anyone know what the Chinese is for 'wheres the fucking life jackets?'
