The Annapolis Valley wine country and beautiful views

An inviting patio with a view of the grapevines at hand. Just enticing you to stroll through. Actually, I was pulled through. As soon as Kismet got a whiff of the fertilizer they use she was determined to get to it.

Had to try the one called Tidal 😉. A nice white with a taste of Reisling. And the Lucie Kuhlmann red. I had never heard of that grape. It is an original French grape created by Eugene Kuhlmann in Alsace France in 1911. The story has several variations but he either named it after his fiery red haired mistress or his daughter. Some say it was his dog. But the common thread is red haired. Just had to try it after hearing that history. And a nice red it is.

I had a nice chat with the young woman working in the winery. Of course, having been to Newfoundland came up. Turns out she grew up there in St Anthony. And her grandfather, a great admirer of Dr Grenfell, played a large role in getting the Grenfell museum up and running. It rather blows my mind how my stories seem to intertwine.

A very simple and rustic winery but has won big awards. The 2 young people working there were family members. Very proud of what has been accomplished.

This Brut won a silver medal in 2007 competing in France against their Champagnes. I did try a lesser vintage and it was very nice so decided to buy the winner. I will find some special occasion to open it. Or make one up! The red is also good. A black pepper undertone.

No more tastings but I visited another 

Luckett Vineyard. Very upscale and showy and too busy to stand in line for tasting. So I bought some cheese.

But the view was amazing. If you zoom in you will see a huge farm in the distance and in the middle a red telephone booth. That is also on the label of one of their wines.

Acadia University in Wolfville. A small campus but very pretty setting. Wolfville reminded me a bit of Picton in the summertime. But bigger. Busy Main Street with restaurants with outdoor patios and gorgeous houses.
