Welcome into the mountain of the Southern part of Leyte. Not far from the City of Maasin which is the center of civilization in Southern Leyte. There's a certain part in the town of Macrohon which is very fun to visit. It's a farm owned by one family only and they promoted it as one of the tourist spots here in Macrohon.
Maybe you want something new and go to the mountain instead of beaches. Beaches are good but going into the mountain where you can breathe fresh air, wandering into the woods, sightseeing of the plants and many more eco-village type of lifestyle. But sightseeing is not enough, there should be food to offer to our visitors. Foods and drinks that comes from the nature just like vegetables and fruits to eat. They have many varieties that you won't feel regret after going there. Before I'll be showing you the place, let me first do some digging how this farm was made.
Long ago, there was one couple who owns this land. This couple has been farmers all of their lives and has brought up their 4 children by tilling the earth. Just like any typical farm in the Philippines, their family also struggled. Even though they struggled they promised themselves to send their children into school. They focused on farming and then the woman was selling their vegetables and cut flowers from their farm. Their 4 children eventually love farming and helped their parents in farming. " -from the wife of the oldest son of the owner"
Why the happy farm was made? Let's go back again and get the history according to them.
"The roads to Happy Farm in Macrohon, Southern Leyte gave life to the proverbial belief that finding happiness is not easy. To share the story of the farm meant traversing the narrow and winding roads which lead to a quaint barangay in a valley behind Mt. Tangub, just where could “happiness” be. Upon reaching the barangay, one still has to walk a few meters more before witnessing for himself what “happy” means."
Now as of the present they let the people enter in their farm. As what I've said they made as one of the tourist spots here in Macrohon Southern Leyte. They offer foods like these. At present, Happy Farm cultivates rice, different high-value crops such as tomato, lettuce, bell peppers, eggplant, bitter gourd, cucumber, herbs, and cut flowers. Happy Farm is an advocate of organic agriculture. They engage in organic farming to ensure safe and healthy produce for everyone. Happy Farm has focused its production primarily on salad staples such as lettuce and tomato as these are gaining ground among health enthusiasts. Foods being served are fresh from harvest, organic, delicious, and at it's affordable price.
For now they're doing i catering in this place. According to the person I asked, currently they're working for their restaurants. So, it's fine if you want to eat here because they'll cook it for you. They have animals here as well that if you would love meat they will offer it to you. Actually there are lot of foods they will offer here. AS you can see, they have many plants that were planted. They have lots of fruits that you can eat.
Of course they're selling it as well. There are lot of flowers here that might caught your interest.
I will finish it for now but I'm going to continue it by nextime. By the way you can arrive in this place by riding a single motorcycle only. You will start at the brgy of Ichon where the national road located. The road is not concreted yet so expect it to be a rough road.
images are not mine but I was being told by the wife of the oldest son of the owner. You can visit their page in facebook if you'd like to connect with them. [HAPPY FARM](https://www.facebook.com/millanfarm/)
