Ferry cruise from Stockholm to Turku
In Scandinavia, mainly in Sweden, all Covid19 related restrictions were lifted at the end of February, and daily life has returned to citizens. In Stockholm, where I currently live, the Prime Minister has declared the end of Covid19 in Sweden, and people are gradually returning to their pre-corona lifestyles.
One of the things I most wanted to do when I returned to my life before Corona was to go sightseeing with friends. For the past two years, I have not been able to do any sightseeing with my friends, but now that the end of Corona has finally been declared, I decided to go sightseeing with my friends for the first time in almost two years.
Stockholm is connected to other Scandinavian countries by ferry, and it is very popular to go sightseeing in Scandinavian countries such as Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania by ferry. I had never been to Finland by ferry from Stockholm, so my friends invited me to go to Finland by ferry.

久しぶりの観光
北欧では２月末にすべてのコロナ規制が緩和され、日常生活が市民に戻ってきました。 わたしが現在住んでいるストックホルムでも総理大臣によるコロナ終息宣言が行われ、コロナ前の生活に少しづつ生活習慣を戻しています。
コロナ前の生活が戻ってきて一番したかったことの１つに友人達との観光があります。 この２年間は友人達とは全く観光が出来なかったのですが、やっとコロナ終息宣言が出てほぼ２年ぶりに友人たちと観光に行くことにしました。
ストックホルムはフェリーでほかの北欧の国とつながっていて、フェリーにって北欧の国、フィンランド、エストニア、ラトビア、リトアニアなどに観光に行くのがとっても盛んです。 わたしは一度もストックホルムからはフェリーによる観光をしたことがなかったので、友人たちがフェリーに乗って、フィンランドに行く観光に誘ってくれました。

Travel costs from Stockholm to Turku seemed to be kept as low as possible, and in return, the ship seemed to be set up to allow people to take advantage of the various facilities on board. The ship was fully equipped with many entertainment facilities, including this delicious buffet restaurant where we went, a jazz bar, a night show lounge, a sauna, and a casino, etc.
I have been on several ferries in Japan, but they were about twice as large as the Kyushu-bound ferries from Osaka's Nanko or the Tokushima-bound ferries. The ferry I took in Japan had only a restaurant and a bath, but the ferry I took this time was fully equipped with "entertainment facilities" as described above.
We finished our meal around 8pm and then went to the night lounge. I really enjoyed my gin and tonic while watching the show that was something. I had a really good time with my friends, as it is not often that I get to spend the same time talking with them after a long time in Corona.
We left the lounge around 3:00AM, but the club was still busy with people dancing all the time, so I am sure the club was lively until around 5:00AM.
船内の娯楽施設に大満足でした！
StockholmからTurkuの旅費はなるべく低く抑えられているようで、その代わりに船内にあるいろいろな施設を利用してもらうように設定されているようでした。 船内にはわたしたちが行った、この美味しいビュッフェスタイルのレストラン、ジャズバー、ナイトショーのラウンジ、サウナ、カジノなどたくさん娯楽施設が完備されていました。
わたしも日本では何度かフェリーに乗ったことがあるのですが、大阪の南港からでている九州行きのフェリーや、徳島行きのフェリーに比べて規模的には２倍程度あるフェリーでした。 日本で乗ったフェリーは娯楽施設などはレストランとお風呂ぐらいだったのですが、今回乗ったフェリーは上記のように「娯楽施設」を完備したフェリーでした。
食事を２０時頃に終えて、そのあとはナイトラウンジに行きました。 そこで行われていたショーを観ながらのんだジントニックは本当においしかったです。 久しぶりに友達といろいろと話しながら、同じ時間を楽しむことはコロナでなかなかできなかったので、本当に楽しい時間を過ごすごとが出来ました。
わたし達は３時AMごろにラウンジを出たのですが、クラブではずっと人が集まってダンスをしていたので、きっと５AMぐらいまではクラブには活気があったと思います。
Next day on the ferry
When I woke up, we were passing through Åland Island. I was admiring the captain's skill (or maybe it was automatic) in driving the boat through the small archipelago and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
I was a little hungover from too much alcohol yesterday, so I first went to a cafe for a light breakfast and coffee.
I was a bit surprised when I boarded the ferry for the first time, and was amazed at the number of stores that are open when the ferry is operating in the duty-free zone, which is the most profitable part of the ferry service! The ferry had 10 floors, and about 3 of them were allocated to duty free stores. I was not able to take pictures, but everyone was buying a lot of alcohol, cigarettes, perfumes, and other expensive items there. There seemed to be many people on board who were looking forward to visiting the duty-free store.
We also bought a lot of alcohol, wandered through the various duty-free stores, and ended up at this restaurant for a burger. As you know, tax rates are very high in Sweden, especially on luxury items such as alcohol and cigarettes. I wondered if that is why this kind of business is possible. I also wondered if this kind of ferry cruising business is possible in Japan as well, from Fukuoka in Kyushu to Busan and Jeju Island in Korea. It was my first time to go sightseeing by ferry, and I felt like I got a glimpse of a new Swedish culture, which was a very good experience.
快適な運航に感謝
起きたときにはオーランド島を通過しているときでした。 小さな群島をくぐりにけて運転しているキャプテンのスキル（自動運転かもしれませんが）に感服しながらきれいな景色を堪能していました。
昨日、お酒を飲みすぎたのか少し二日酔いだったので、まずはカフェに行って軽い朝食とコーヒーを飲みに行きました。
食事の後は免税ショップへみんな直行！ 初めて乗船したので、そのシステムがあまりわかっていなかったわたしは少しびっくりしたのですが、このフェリーはストックホルムからTurkuへの移動手段としても使用されているのですが、それ以外に夜のラウンジを楽しんだり、免税店でお酒やたばこを購入するのを主な目的として乗船しているお客さんもたくさんいるようでした。
わたし達もたくさんお酒を買って、いろいろんな免税店を練り歩いて、最後にはこのレストランでバーガーを食べました。 スウェーデンではご存じのように税率がとても高く、特にお酒やたばこのような趣向品と言われる商品に高額の税を課しています。 だからこのようなビジネスが成り立つのかなぁと思ったのですが、日本でも九州の福岡から韓国のプサンや済州島などに向けてこのようなフェリークルージングビジネスも成り立つのではないかなぁと思いました。 初めてのフェリー観光だったのですが、新しいスウェーデン文化を垣間見れたような気がして、とてもよい経験が出来ました。
