Tel Aviv, a city of beautiful beaches and street art
What beautiful beaches Israel has! I love the Mediterranean Sea. It is so beautiful with so many beautiful beaches.
We went up to a small hill in the city to see the Mediterranian Sea. It was very hot in Israel, 2015. It was my second time to see the Mediterranian Sea. The first time I saw when I visited Nice, France. But, I did not feel this kind of heat and the strong sunshine that I felt in Tel Aviv.
I like Tel Aviv because this city has a long history. There are many small districts where remain beautiful old towns. We went to explore the old part of the city, and it was like a maze! I love this kind of old-style town like Gamla Stan of Stockholm, Sweden, and Gion of Kyoto, Japan.
I remember that beaches are somehow divided with invisible walls by race. Well, maybe, I was too sensitive to feel so, but I felt that some beaches have many Arabic-looking people, and some other beaches have more European or Jewish-looking people. We walked on the beaches from Jaffa till Tel Aviv, and maybe because Jaffo has more Arabic population and Tel Aviv has more Jewish population.
I love Mediterranian food. I was a bit surprised how they used watermelon as a salad. I loved it so much! And, #beer ! Yes, Israeli beer, Goldstar!

In Japanese, there is a saying called "百聞は一見にしかず" which means "Seeing is believing - One eye-witness is better than many hearsays". As I wrote in my previous blog about this trip, sadly I did not have positive image of Israel because of the mass media, I guess. I had never been to Israel, but I just had this sad and negative image of Israel that was created by the media. However, after I visited Israel, like this saying above, I have learned many new things about Israel and Israeli people both Arabic and Jewish. I believe that there are many problems like other countries have, yet I have learned that it is very important to go and see how it is like.
People tend to see some news that has strong eye-catching titles like "bombing" and "killing", however, that we have to keep that in mind that there is a gatekeeper who controls the news. I would never have had a chance to see these beautiful beaches and delicious food in Israel if I just kept being imbued in a flood of information that was created and controlled by the mass media.
"百聞は一見にしかず" - "Seeing is believing"
Yes, get out and see what is going on! That is what I have learned in Israel 😄
