Today's post is dedicated to the most impressive city of the great three of southern Sicily. As I wrote in the last post [link](https://travelfeed.io/@mister-omortson/great-three-or-part-one-or-noto), we wanted to see three world famous cities from the UNESCO heritage list: Noto, Ragusa and Modica. The first we visited Noto. Unfortunately, due to misunderstandings with the navigator, we lost a lot of time on the road and arrived in Noto quite late. It was possible to stay in Noto for a night, but we had a reservation for a wonderful apartment in Ragusa. Therefore, we had no choice but to hit the road.
At first the road went through vineyards and olive plantations. Half an hour later it got dark. The road went uphill to the mountains.
I live on the plain. I’m used to driving along wide direct freeways. Every time I need to ride on mountain serpentines, I am in awe. Driving along mountain roads even in the daytime requires increased attention and extreme concentration from me. Needless to say, traveling in the mountains at night.
The road to Ragusa impressed us with sharp turns and narrow sections. How tired I am that night! I remember that I was at the limit of my strength. At one point, a light truck overtook us. The truck driver was clearly from the locals. He masterfully moved along the serpentine. I decided to hang on his tail, let this unknown driver forgive me! Movement has become much easier.
We arrived in Ragusa at about 19 hours. I would like to draw your attention to the free parking on Via Avvocato Giovanni Ottaviano. When you are traveling around Italy by car, one of the main points is the availability of parking. Usually the whole day is built on this factor!
A few words about first impressions. Ragusa is located on two peaks of mountains forming something like an amphitheater. The city is divided into two parts. This is very similar to a pair of cherries connected by branches, or an old scales with kettlebells. The city met us with silence and deserted streets. Above the city lies a bottomless ocean of heaven with brightly shining stars. A huge sparkling moon disk completed the fabulous composition
When you come to a new city, you usually experience a small quest on the topic of finding booked accommodation. So it happened this time. We were very afraid of repeating the closed-door story and the hiding host that happened to us in Catania. The doors were closed again ...
We applied the proven method, we knocked on the nearest door to the neighbors. In meager Italian, I was able to explain who we are. A neighbor immediately contacted the owner of the apartment by telephone. She turned out to be a very sweet and hospitable Signora D. She was out of breath running towards us.
I would like to write a few words about housing in Ragusa. To live among stones, and in a stone house, you must have a habit. Honestly, I can’t imagine how the ancient lords, kings and bishops lived in these cold stone sacks. I got the impression that the house is always cold!
I want to draw your attention to another point. Near the free parking is the wonderful family tavern "Ristorante Antica Maсina". I highly recommend you visit this place.
Our apartments had an author's design and a bewitching view from the bedroom balcony. This photo predetermined our choice.
Ragusa is a great place for an artist or poet. This is a place of inexhaustible inspiration. Here you can escape from worries and spend a week of vacation and a lot of money :-)
The artist at every street will be able to find a shiсk scenery for painting. Magnificent views open at every step.
Ragusa is a great place for lovers of walking and jogging. We passed in two days examining the beauty of about 35 kilometers!

Сегодняшний пост посвящен самому впечатляющему городу из великой тройки юга Сицилии. Как я уже писал в прошлом пост (линк), мы желали увидеть три всемирно известных города из списка наследия ЮНЕСКО: Ното, Рагуза и Модика. Первым мы посетили Ното. К сожалению из-за недоразумений с навигатором мы потеряли много времени в пути и прибыли в Ното довольно поздно. Можно было остаться в Ното ночевать, но мы имели бронь на замечательные апартаменты в Рагуза. Поэтому нам ничего не оставалось как отправиться в путь.
Сначала дорога шла через виноградники и оливковые плантации. Спустя полчаса стемнело. Дорога пошла на подъем в горы.
Я живу на равнине. Я привык ездить по широким прямым автострадам. Каждый раз, когда мне необходимо ехать по горным серпантинам, меня охватывает трепет. Движение по горным дорогам даже в дневное время суток требует от меня повышенного внимания и предельной концентрации. Нечего говорить о передвижении в горах ночью.
Дорога до рагузы впечатляла нас крутыми поворотами и узкими участками. Как же я сильно устал в ту ночь! Помню, что я был на пределе моих сил. В какой-то момент нас обогнал легкий грузовик. Водитель грузовика явно был из местных жителей. Он виртуозно двигался по серпантину. Я решил повиснуть у него на хвосте, - да простит меня этот неизвестный мне водитель! Двигаться стало значительно легче.
Мы прибыли в Рагуза около 19 часов. Хочу обратить ваше внимание на бесплатный паркинг на Via Avvocato Giovanni Оттавиано. Когда ты путешествуешь по Италии на автомобиле, одним из главных моментов является наличие парковки. Обычно весь день строится вокруг этой треклятой парковки!
Несколько слов о первых впечатлениях. Рагуза расположен на двух вершинах гор образуя нечто вроде амфитеатра. Город разделяется на две части. Это очень похоже на пару вишен соединенных ветками, или на старинные весы с гирями. Город встретил нас тишиной и пустынными улицами. Над городом раскинулось бездонный океан небес с ярко сияющими звездами. Огромный сверкающий диск луны завершал сказочную композицию
Когда ты приезжаешь в новый город обычно переживаешь небольшой квест на тему поиска забронированного жилья. Так получилось и в этот раз. Мы очень боялись повторения истории с закрытыми дверями и прячущимся хозяином, которая произошла с нами в Катанья. Двери снова были закрыты...
Мы применили проверенный способ, мы постучали в ближайшую дверь к соседям. На скудном итальянском я смог объясниться кто мы. Соседка мгновенно связалась по телефону с владелицей апартаментов. Ею оказалась очень милая и гостеприимная синьора Д. Она запыхалась бежав к нам.
Хочется написать несколько слов о жилье в Рагуза. Чтобы жить среди камней, и в каменном доме, надо иметь привычку. Честно сказать я не представляю как древние сеньоры, короли и епископы жили в этих холодных каменных мешках. У меня сложилось впечатление что в доме всегда холодно!
Художник на любой улице сможет найти прекрасную сцену для этюда. Великолепные виды открываются буквально на каждом шагу.
Рагуза отличное место для любителей ходьбы и бега трусцой. Мы прошли за два дня осматривая красоты около 35 километров!
